Arsenal player ratings vs Sevilla. Jesus stars once again.

Image
Gabriel Jesus stared once again for Arsenal Arsenal ended their pre-season preparations in stunning style thrashing Spanish outfit Sevilla by 6 goals to nil. It brings to a close in what has been a near perfect pre-season for Mikel Arteta's men, winning all 6 of their games, scoring 25 goals and conceding only 5 goals.  Arsenal came out the blocks quick, with a wonderful Martin Odegaard ball finding Bukayo Saka who was shoved to the floor by Sevilla defender Omar Rekik and referee Andy Madley was told by his assistant to point the spot. Saka as cool as you like from the spot as he stroked it in for 1-0. Jesus continued his fine form as he netted Arsenal's second after some good work from Gabriel Martinelli, it wasn't long in fact only about 60 seconds when we saw Martinelli put in a delicious cross towards the back post where who else but Gabriel Jesus was waiting to nod it home. A typical Gabriel Jesus goal. We weren't even 20 minutes in when Arsenal had four after s...

Arsenal rounded up their US Tour with a thumping 4-0 victory of London rivals Chelsea, a result which s aw them lift the Florida Cup hopefully the first of many trophies this year.   Arsenal thrashed Chelsea 4-0. Arsenal started well, with the team in red taking control of the game and keeping the majority of the ball. And they were awarded for their efforts when a misplaced Chelsea pass led to Granit Xhaka who played a fine ball to Jesus who superbly chipped the onrushing Mendy and gave the Gunners the lead.  It wasn't long after till soon to be appointed Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard gave Arsenal 2-0 lead after a lovely ball played through by Gabriel Martinelli. Which gave Arsenal a comfortable 2-0 lead in 45 they dominated. Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga wrapped up the thrashing with two easily finished goals with the latter being a lovely header which was the Belgian's first goal for the club.   Arsenal are just two weeks away from kicking off their season against Crystal Palace on August 5th. This will be Arsenal's 104th consecutive season in the Premier League the most out of any team in English football, sorry just had to put that in ;). With only two games left of pre-season the players are looking sharp and the starting 11 for the Palace game is beginning to shape up. With Mikel Arteta men missing out on top 4 on the last hurdle last year they'll be looking to finally end their 5 year exile from the Champions League this season in what will be Mikel Arteta's third full season in charge. Here is five reasons to look forward to the upcoming season. 1. Gabriel Jesus  Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal new £45mil striker Very simple reason, the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. Everyone even non Arsenal fans know what was Arsenal main issue for the last two seasons have been which is of course the lack of a goalscoring striker. Eddie Nketiah was Arsenal top g...

Jesus impresses again, Saliba returns as Arsenal beat Everton in Baltimore. Match recap, review and player ratings.

Gabriel Jesus celebrates opening the scoring in Baltimore Arsenal have made it 3 wins out of 3 for pre-season with a win against fellow Premier League side Everton to open their US tour with a win. The damage was all done in three minutes where Arsenal scored two goals in the space of three minutes thanks to Jesus. The Gunners started strong with both sides putting out close to first team sides for the first 45. The game mirrored the match at the Emirates last May in the early exchanges where we saw Arsenal in complete control of possession and Everton playing park the bus and trying to hit Arsenal on the counter. The gunners pressing and pressure was causing all sorts of problems for Everton who almost gave a goal away after a poor back pass from Mason Holgate due to the pressure he was under was intercepted by Gabriel Jesus who had his shot saved by Jordan Pickford who kept Everton in the game for the first half. A minute later Arsenal came close again as Granit Xhaka hit th...

Image
Pre-season underway at London Colney with a 5-1 win, what's next? Mikel Arteta taking charge of what will be his third full season in charge. It was only 36 days since Arsenal closed out their 21/22 season with that 5-1 win against Everton to the start of pre-season for the 22/23 season, time has flown with hopefully most the players rested, recovered and slightly more tanned after a month on the beach but the hard work and build up for that tricky opening Premier League game against Crystal Palace starts now.  Arsenal kicked off their pre season on Saturday with a 5-1 win against Ipswich Town of League One. Arsenal got off to a flying start thanks to Eddie Nketiah, wearing his new number 14 shirt he netted within the first 30 seconds, Eddie soon added to this with another two goals to complete a first half hat-trick, certainly Mikel Arteta will be hoping Eddie will continue this form with the imminent arrival of Gabriel Jesus to keep the Brazilian on his toes. Albert Sambi Lo...
